How To Edit Minecraft Server Files

How To Edit Minecraft Server Files

The web-based FTP client lets you manage your Minecraft server files with ease from the panel. To access your Minecraft server files using the web client, navigate to FTP File Access and log in using your panel password. After authentication, you will be directed to your home directory.

Navigating Your Server Files

Navigating through server files is similar to what you would do on your desktop. The directory structure is in the middle. It is possible to navigate to, select, and edit our files here. Click on the folder you wish to enter in and view its contents. To edit a file, click Edit. To download the file you must click the actual name.

There are options for managing the files you've chosen. Once you have the selected items selected, you can issue certain actions to them such as:

Move Files another directory on your server. Delete - Permanently delete selected files.

Copy Make a copy the files you have selected.

Rename - Rename certain files

Download - Select files can be downloaded in an archive format.

Zip - Archive selected files and save them to the server.

Unzip - Extract the contents of an archive to the directory that you are currently in.

Edit - Edit the respective file using the built-in text editor.

Create a New Folder and Files

You can create new folders or files directly from your panel by using the New Dir, New File, or Upload option on the left side menu.

New Dir - Create a new directory (or folder)

New File - Create a new plain text file.

Upload - Upload a set of files or an archive.

You can only upload single files using the Upload option. You cannot upload entire folders. If you're looking to upload a whole folder, you'll need to upload it as an archive file then make use of the unzip option in order to extract its contents onto your server.

Limitations

While the web-based FTP client is easy and quick for simple uploads and editing of servers, it does have its limitations. The panel's web page functions as an intermediary between file exchange by allowing you to upload new files and make modifications to existing server files. What this means is that you are limited to how you can upload in one session. This limitation is set at 50mb and any upload or file commit that is larger than this size will need to be done using a 3rd Party FTP client such as Filezilla. Third-party FTP clients like Filezilla don't have any limitations on file size since it connects directly with your server files instead of the web-based FTP client.
